I love cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, sweets and basically all lovely treats born out of an oven that I have decided to bake. This way, I can always have more than one serving...

I still want my own bakery

Even before I started baking for real, I've bought baking books (that collected dust) and dreamt of opening my own bakery. Being surrounded by baked goods, going to work to smell butter that comes from an oven, leaving work smelling like butter has always been way more intriguing than working in an office.

So when I read that "Confections of a Master Closet Baker" is a memoir about a high-flying exec who left her job that paid her well and allowed her a glam and glitzy lifestyle to open a bakery, I grabbed the last book on the shelf! I was ready for the book to tell me how fun and rewarding it is to have your own bakery, but instead, it told me some things I don't really wanna hear.

Like having to sleep at 8pm because you have to wake up at 5am every morning to start baking till 4pm everyday. Having to bake the same things over and over again everyday for a long long time. Having to socialise with customers. Cleaning and cleaning and cleaning (and baking does leave you with alot alot alot of stuff to clean) after a long day of baking. Oh and did I mention she said that even though business is booming, n she's super duper busy baking her life away, she's only breaking even and not earning shitloads of money?

But I guess with all of that, the one thing you can say that not many others can is that work is what you truly love (if u truly love baking that is). However, I also wonder, will turning what you love into work change your love for it? Whatever it is, I still dream of my own bakery - one that allows me to start baking at 8am, have someone else to do all the dishes, spruce up the baked goods menu every month and have a slice of cake everyday without putting on weight!
